Warm Up

Warming up is like a switch in your body from idle, Performance mode. Warming up gets your heart pumping thus elevating your blood flow and breathing. This makes your muscles more elastic and less prone to injury. Methods can be a light jog and smaller reps of strength workouts like bar curls.

Breathing

Breathing his the hidden source of power behind every warm up, exercise, and cool down. While many people over look it, mastering it is vital. Efficient inhaling for 3 seconds and exhaling for 2  feeds muscles with the oxygen they need for power and endurance. It also slows the nervous system down, preventing panic in high intensity workouts.

Calisthenics

Calisthenics workouts are the flagship exercises for empowerment, body weight mastery, and versatility. I started implementing calisthenics workouts like pushups, chin-ups, and sit ups into my workout regime when I was 17 years old. Calisthenics combines compound movements with body weight giving you added cardio, resistance, and flexibility while getting you cut up!

Cool Down

Cooling down is a priority, it doesn’t matter how challenging or how easy the workout was prior. Cooling down will shift your mind from fight to flight, rest and recovery. Doing static stretches like the butterfly’s or L sits keeps blood flowing stable instead of pooling up and decreases risk of injury.

Mindfulness Fitness...

Mindful Stretching: While stretching, pay  attention to the sensation of muscles stretching and releasing. Remember to inhale and exhale with each movement. 

Mindful Listening: During office presentations or team meetings intend to actively listen to the speaker or coach.  Tune in only to listen without a need to respond. Be aware of when your opinions arise. This action is within your control to silence.

Walking meditation: Focus on each step, the sensation of feet touching the ground. Notice the torain, rhythm of your breath, body movement and surroundings. 

Focused Breathing: While sitting with hands on the lap,  notice the breath, is it choppy or short? Close your eyes and take a deeper breath to re-adjust and to re-focus.  Keep eyes closed to deepen your focus and to enhance concentration.
